Lab Manager

Responsibilities:

The primary responsibility of the Lab Manager is to organize and direct the overall operation of Laboratory. To ensuring that our clients receive the most accurate analysis and interpretation of data. In addition to quality, cost containment and timely delivery are of the utmost priority for the Lab manager.

The Lab Manager will engage in continuous performance improvement for laboratory operations which will include the following areas:

  • Budget and operating expenses.

  • Oversight, training and performance review of staff including real-time coaching and feedback.

  • Lab safety preparedness.

  • Ensure topnotch customer service standards.

  • Appropriate and timely communication to staff and management as it applies to all areas of lab operations.

  • Participation in industry education and marketing opportunities.

  • Compliance with federal, state and local regulations, ensuring adherence to company standards and protocols.

  • Implementation, monitoring and performance calibration of all lab equipment by establishing and ensuring consistent standards of use.

  • Implement lab equipment troubleshooting procedures, training and usage compliance.

  • Ensure preparedness for all potential inspections by local agencies, the Bureau or accreditation bodies.

  • Certify instrument performance and provide a keen awareness of equipment safety and the need for service and repair when needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Biological, Chemical, agricultural, environmental, or related sciences from an accredited college or university.

  • Must have at least 2-5 years full time practical experience.

  • Must have experience with, and working knowledge of, regulatory and accreditation of laboratory operations.

  • Prior experience with lab equipment (such as GCMS, HPLC, volatile compound analysis using HS-GC, GC-FID, ICP-MS, LC/MSMS) is highly desirable.

  • Microsoft Office, especially MS Excel intermediate usage is a must!

  • High integrity, professionalism and a solid work ethic are a must for this position

Experience:

  • lab management: 2 years

Education:

  • At minimum, a Bachelors degree; Preferably Master’s or Ph.D.

 


Extraction/Sample preparation Technicians

Responsibilities:

  • Preparing equipment and plant materials for extraction.

  • Operating highly sophisticated extraction equipment.

  • Processing concentrates and extracts.

  • Cleaning and maintenance of extraction equipment and laboratory facility.

  • Maintaining strict inventory records of all plant materials, chemicals and equipment used in the laboratory.

  • Operating, maintaining, and making adjustments and repairs to laboratory equipment such as liquid chromatography systems, pumps, microscopes, balances, centrifuges, and other laboratory equipment.

  • Maintaining inventory records of supplies, materials, and equipment, and preparing requisitions as needed.

  • Storing supplies and equipment, disposal of waste according to guidelines, and keeping laboratory, store rooms and working areas immaculate.

  • Washing and sterilizing laboratory glassware.

  • Performing clerical work related to laboratory activities such as word processing, record keeping, filing, and answering telephone inquiries.

  • Maintaining material safety data sheets for all department chemicals and products.

  • Adherence to quality control documentation.

  • Compliance with local and state guidelines requiring chain of custody of controlled substances.

  • Other duties as assign.

Qualifications

  • Experience with Extraction Purification and Analysis preferred, but not required.

  • Experience with ISO/IEC 17025:2017.

  • Effective time-management skills and ability to multi-task.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, changing and challenging environment.

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Biological, Chemical, agricultural, environmental, or related sciences from an accredited college or university; or have completed two years of college or university education that included coursework in biological, chemical, agricultural, environmental, or related sciences from an accredited college or university and three years full-time practical experience.

     


Analyst

Responsibilities:

  • Perform data acquisition, analysis of data, and report preparation for the testing/screening for cannabinoid potency, terpene potency, residual solvents, heavy metals, pesticides, microbiologic organisms, water activity, and mycotoxins.

  • Identify and assign sample re-tests.

  • As needed, provide guidance for and assist with sample preparation.

  • As assigned, perform advanced lab support functions such as calibration standard preparation, analytical equipment tuning and maintenance, and analysis of data used for laboratory quality control.

  • As assigned, support and/or lead laboratory process, method, and operations improvement projects.

  • As assigned, assist with the upkeep and improvement of elements of the quality management system such as SOPs and the training program

  • Compliance with local and state guidelines requiring chain of custody of controlled substances.

Qualifications

  • Effective time-management skills and ability to multi-task.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, changing and challenging environment.

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Biological, Chemical, agricultural, environmental, or related sciences from an accredited college or university; or have completed two years of college or university education that included coursework in biological, chemical, agricultural, environmental, or related sciences from an accredited college or university and three years full-time practical experience.

  • Minimum of one year experience analyzing data acquired using instruments such as HPLC, UPLC, GCMS, ICPMS, and LCMS.

  • Ability to think critically.

  • Previous experience working in an accredited laboratory environment and/or in the cannabis industry is a plus.

     



Sampler/Accessioning

Responsibilities:

Quality Assurance Officer

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for interpreting, applying, and implementing standards, rules and regulations of the laboratory.

  • Ensuring that the laboratory achieves and maintains a laboratory quality assurance program.

  • Assists with laboratory administrative duties if needed.

  • Update, revise and maintain laboratory QA manual, SOP’s and other quality documents.

  • Perform internal audits of the laboratory, including both technical and quality systems.

  • Assist lab manager in reviewing analytical reports, monitor turnaround times, training records for all lab staff.

  • Schedule and pass proficiency testing.

Qualifications

  • Experience with ISO accreditation.

  • Extensive knowledge and experience in quality management.

  • Proficient in Microsoft office suites, especially excel.

  • Effective time-management skills and ability to multi-task.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, changing and challenging environment.

Receptionist/Administrator

Responsibilities:

Our phenomenal team is looking for an energetic, friendly, career-oriented, front office receptionist for our cannabis testing laboratory located in Chatsworth, CA.

  • Greet guests/clients.

  • Answering incoming calls.

  • Engage with clients by phone and in person.

  • Make/confirm/change appointments.

  • Keep inventory and order office supplies.

  • Obtaining/sorting mail.

  • Obtain and track payments from clients.

  • Ensuring the cleanliness of the office.

  • Report maintenance issues to building management.

  • Communicate daily with key staff.

Qualifications

  • Effective time-management skills and ability to multi-task.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, changing and challenging environment.

  • Previous experience preferred.
